Making the most of your telemedicine session
Updated: Feb 17
Online video telemedicine appointments are available for patients who cannot make it into the clinic for in-person appointments. For these sessions, Dr. Marianne uses a confidential health care video portal at doxy.me that you can use on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. All you need is a webcam with a microphone and speaker on your device.
If you do use a tablet or smart phone, we recommend picking up an aftermarket tripod or stand so you don't have to hold your device for your entire session.
You can access the private doxy.me patient portal on either a PC or Mac device using the Chrome, Safari or Firefox browsers you normally use--all work well. If you have an Android device, we recommend the Chrome browser, and for iPad or iPhone devices, we recommend Safari.
A test run of doxy.me to make sure your microphone and camera are enabled will make your time run more smoothly and save firewall or virus software headaches. While you are doing this, your browser may prompt you to allow doxy.me to access your device's microphone and speakers, so be sure to accept access to those functions.
When you book your initial tele-consult, Dr. Marianne will send you a link to the online portal for your check in. We recommend doing this five minutes before your appointment and re-starting your device at that time, so that your session can begin right on time.
For more help getting set up, we recommend visiting the website, chat and FAQ page for patients on the doxy.me site.
